Synopsis

This volume presents an integrated exploration of next-generation intelligent systems and their transformative impact on industrial engineering, bringing together contributions on digital twins, smart automation, industrial robotics, AI-driven optimization, predictive analytics, and sustainable manufacturing models to examine how emerging technologies are reshaping production environments, decision-making processes, and organizational performance. Several chapters highlight the role of cyber–physical systems and data-centric architectures in enabling real-time monitoring, simulation, and control of industrial processes, while others explore the convergence of machine learning, IoT infrastructures, and advanced robotics as key enablers of efficiency, flexibility, and resilience in modern industries. Special attention is given to sustainable engineering practices, including energy-efficient design, resource optimization, and environmentally conscious production models, which appear throughout various chapters of the volume. Theoretical discussions are complemented by practical case studies that demonstrate how intelligent systems address concrete industrial challenges—ranging from predictive maintenance and workflow automation to performance forecasting and manufacturing system simulation—underlining the urgent need for industries to adopt adaptive, data-informed, and technologically robust frameworks. Overall, the book provides researchers, engineers, and practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the technological foundations, methodological approaches, and applied solutions shaping the future of industrial systems, positioning next-generation intelligent engineering not only as a technological evolution but also as a strategic pathway toward sustainable, efficient, and human-centered industrial transformation.
